Just out of curiosity, why does no one use current and/or updated photos here instead of yearbook pics?

I'm still trying to figure out the name of the Restaurant by the Prairie Travler.  Give me a subtle hint because I sure can't think of anything except Williams but that might have been with the Motel.

Another theater that closed in the fifties was the Majestic on the corner of washing and East where Bloomington Federal went in. Remember the big deal about the "face" that seemed to appear on the back of the National Bank when the Majestic was torn down?

All those folks listed at the Oaks were my customers on my Daily Pantagraph route. Got a lot of great tips on that route. It went from the Rogers Hotel and covered all the way around that block and both sides of the first three blocks of E. Front and E. Grove. Only the south side of 400 block of Front. I think a couple of Christmases I got over $150 in tips. That was a bunch in the late '50s

That photo of 1st Pres and the Rogers was taken from corner of Main and Front. Was the building that burned on Main St the Gresheim? It was across from the court house. Sterns Furniture about two blocks north burned also.

Physically the Majestic was there in the 50's but stood empty from the late 40's until it was razed in 1956

The Griesheim and Unity buildings both burned.

Of course Bloomington had the first brick street. It was Center Street or a portion thereof.

I grew up hearing the same story but it's an urban myth.
