What. Church was it that was located on that corner?  Also, wasn't there a restaurant that was located in the middle of that block?

Is/was the house with the pillars on Wood St?

About the brick street...and I quote:

The first U.S. patent for brick paving dates to 1868, and some claim Charleston, W. Va., laid the nation’s first brick street in 1873.

Well, some claim it was Bloomington and that's that!

Bloomington never had hockey, but they were superior in every other sport, including FOOTBALL, BASKETBALL, SWIMMING, not Hockey, but for first time in Minnesota I following Pro Hockey, it was amazing, Amazing year for sports for me, one of my favorite cousins won First in 195 in HS Championships in Cali, I have lots more to add about Irving Grade School but not tonight

I remember my HS football with all the guys I supported. Jay Hilton, Ron Peterson, Gilmore the super tough, Terry Shoup who broke my leg lol,  Steve Walker, and of course, Brian Olafson, who tied me in mose wins, Jay won most over us

Is the house still standing?  My husband thought  it looked like a sorority house that has been demolished.

This was the TKE House on Main near Emerson. It was built as the Harbor House and later became a home for Mennonite nurses. Then the TKEs took over. Now it's Mugsy's. But it has also been Burger Chef.

There were two Sambo's in Bloomington/Normal. Where were they? WJBC said this morning that Denny's on Eldorado Rd. was originally Sambo's. They were wrong. :)
