The Class of 1963 has a Wednesday Morning Breakfast every week. It started out to be just two guys. They invited a few more. Through the website, more were invited. We have between 8 and 35 for breakfast. The good thing is if you are living in California and in town on a Wednesday, come on out. That happened a couple of weeks ago. Betty Nutt who lives in California was in town visiting and came to our breakfast. Most of us didn't know she was here. It has happened with two different classmates from Arizona, two from California, one from Massachusetts, two from Florida and many other times. It has brought us closer as a group. It can be done. I think monthly can be even better. Just pick a location where you can sit and chat for as long as you like.

Pete and I had such a fantastic time this weekend.  So much so that we were two of the last six to leave!  Thanks so much to the committee for all the hard work in planning this reunion.   We also hope that there is a casual weekend (maybe 55??).  I can't stand the thought of never seeing you guys again.  Tennessee is great, but Illinois was where we were raised:)

Thanks, especially, to committee members - but also to everyone who came, for the fun weekend we had. It was great to catch up and get in short visits with so many people. I hope that we can keep the website going. I am willing to help fund it, or do what I can do from a distance - with my limited Internet skills.

If more informal get-togethers are planned, I might be able to be in town.

Thanks again. Patti

Milan:

I can't tell you how much I have enjoyed this web site. My wife has had a good time too. Reading through the profiles and catching up on people's lives has been wonderful. I will gladly contribute to keep the site going. The costs are very small per your note. I am "All In" with keeping this going as a way for us all to communicate. I suggest that you send an e-mail to all of the class stating how several have expressed a desire to keep this going and ask for contributions. I bet you will get a good response. Let me know where to direct my contribution and I will gladly do so. Please get the word out to our class. This has been a great and fun site!

Thanks to all for making this a great reunion. The committee did a fantastic job. Seeing people I wanted to see and those who were there but not on that list. Not that I didn't want to see everybody, just had some I REALLY wanted to see. Missed the 40th so it was a shock to see how we'd all aged. Anyway, thanks to all for making it a great couple of days.

Thanks to all of those on the committee organizing this great event!  This was an excellent event and very enjoyable!  Compliments to the Holiday Inn staff for the delicious food and great service!   I can not remember ever being at a gathering as large as this having the quality of food and service, especially in Bloomington-Normal.

I would like to add to what Jim Shirk had to say Saturday night about the game Decatur played in Maroa.  My responsibility as one of the basketball managers was to watch the game and record what is called a "Shot Chart" which coach Wood would review at half-time and after the game.   In fact, Jim Barnhart and Fred Young of the Panatgraph always stopped by at the end of the game to get the statatistics to include in their articles.   That night I was sitting in the stands completing the shot chart, from my view point BHS should have won the game as our guys played excellent basketball and exectued the defense almost in a text book manner.  Most of the winning points scored by Decatur came on missed shots that bounced over the heads of our well positioned players in boxing out the offense from the rebound, but those rebounds were slapped back at the rim and dropped into the basket.  Normally the position executed by our defense would have easily captured the rebounds.  It was just Decaturs time to win.  They ended up winning the state and Kenny Barns ended up playing for Wisconsin.  Just possibly the bad bounce of the ball kept BHS from winning state that year.

A friend of mine, his dad, and I went to that regional game. It wasn't at Maroa was it? I remember we parked at a piano store in Decatur and his dad took us in the store to see about buying a piano. We actually just wanted to park there to go to the game.

I had a great time seeing so many of you and remembering some great times from high school! Most of all realizing what great people were in our class .Even Tim Moore told me that  our group tour of the BHS building was more fun than most and he could tell that we were a great class. We did have a lot of "school spirit" and a lot of fun. The only problem was that I missed talking to some of you and did not have enough time with others. Mary Lou Dollins Farnsworth

A big THANK YOU to all that helped plan and execute the reunion.  Everything was well-organized and all your hard work was appreciated.  We had great time!  I say "we" because my extrovert husband found many to chat with when I abandoned him. :)  Thanks to those that made him feel welcomed, too.  Time seemed too short.  There were many I didn't get a chance to talk to and some only briefly.  It was great to see those who were able to come and sad to learn so many had passed.  And all those who couldn't attend were missed.

I would be willing to contribute to keep this site open.  Although I am technologically challenged, you have made this easy to maneuver (once I got the hang of it).

I am adding to my pictures in my profile. Are there any buildings you want to see a picture that is no longer in business? Other than the Polar Lounge. :)

Milan:

You never responded to my post about keeping the web site going and sending an e-mail to the entire class regarding contributions. Many people are interested in this. Please read my post below and advise. Thanks.

Earl, I read it the day you posted it. The committee is planning a wrap-up meeting soon and that is one of the topics. I am here to help with the site and find people. Keeping the website open isn't my decision. Ultimately, it is the decision of the Class of 1962. I didn't mean to seem like I ignored your question. It is being addressed. I think you will be happy with the result.

Hope you had a great time at our 50th  Runion.

I just got our group picture back from the photo shop.   They ran out of mailers but said they would reorder and let me know asap.

In order to keep costs down I'm waiting to get the mailers - sorry for delay they don't usually have that many our size  (12" x 18"). We had 47 requests!!

Be patient,  it's worth waiting for.

W

I will send asap.

Barbara Kincaid (Menken)

I have been reading with interest the comments posted about maintaining this site.  I'm willing to contribute to it but if it isn't going to be utilized what is the point in having it.  It seems like Milan is running a one man show by having to do all the talking - it's like - HELLO - where is everybody.  We have a golden opportunity to keep in touch and I hope we will use it.

I agree with Barbara. Perhaps most of the class does not realize we can communicate this way. I think it is great myself. I think it would help if a class-wide e-mail was sent about the site but none of us can initiate it. We are counting on the few looking at this forum.....does anyone know who we should contact to get a group e-mail sent?
