I tried to post a message when I got home from the Reunion, but couldn't get it to go through, so I'll try again.  I knew the Reunion would be great, but it was even better then I thought it would be.  The committee did a fantastic job of putting it all together, and hopefully, they know how much the rest of us appreciate it.  So much fun to see old friends (don't mean OLD friends, just ones I haven't seen for years)  and I'm already looking forward to the next one.

It was good to see you, Connie. I thought the reunion was great. Even the food was good.

The Class Reunion was wonderful!  The committee was impressive in its planning and organization.  How great to be reunited with our classmates and friends with whom we shared our youth!  The BHS tour was incredible with so many additions and renovations to take it into the 21st century.  I was disappointed that our athletes' accomplishments during our senior year were not visible anywhere.  Each class might enjoy seeing its trophies and awards in that central display case, if only just brought out for the reunion weekend.

The Holiday Inn & Suites was so convenient for our activities--loud applause for all who worked so diligently to welcome our return and help us reconnect with one another.  Fifty years has gone by in such a hurry, but seeing my classmates again made me realize how very much our Class of '62 has accomplished.

Thank you again for a memorable weekend!

Enjoyed the Sat. tour of BHS. Wish I could have made it to the other events.

On another note, while in the Clinton library I stumbled by accident upon the obit for Dale Jay Jaspers. He is buried in Pleasant Valley Cem in DeWitt Co., Illinois and there is a stone photo on Findagrave.com

Edd, we had Jay's obituary under our In Memory Section. I added the picture of his stone under comments in his profile. Thanks for the information.

I also had a great time. After the reunion I have visited in: Bloomington, Clearwater FL, San Antonio TX, and am presently in Chesterfield MO.  Tomorrow we are heading to Columbia MO to see the grandchildren competing in the Marching Band Contest. I have been asked what I miss about the states and that would be the Fall tree colors.  We have so mild of weather the colors change very little in France.

I will lurk on this Message Forum and offer my deux centimes worth from time to time.

I'd like to add my congratulations and thank you to the committee for organizing such a wonderful 50th reunion.  It was wonderful to reconnect with friends that go back as far as kindergarten as well as those I met in high school.  I enjoyed the Holiday Inn, Baxters, the evening events, the tour of the high school and even visiting my grandparent's graves.  The long drives Thursday and Sunday were beautiful but LONG.  The "glass half full" view would be that it gave me time to think about people, places and things I don't normally think about.  All to the good!

In his post, Milan mentioned Casella's.  It made me remember my dad.  He died two years ago at the age of 86.   Over the years he told the story of Jake Casella offering to let him "buy in" to start the first restaurant.  Of course $2000 was totally out of the question at the time so it was always destined to be just a good story.  I don't even know...is Casellas still there?

OK......I'm on a roll!  Homecoming fifty years later......I sat out on the front lawn tonight with a glass of wine watching hundreds of University of Arkansas students walk by on their way to the parade staging area.  I've not been in a parade but, never the less, have a pretty good "parade wave"  that got a lot of use.  I'm sure there is a connection between growing up in Bloomington/Normal and loving living just blocks from the university.  Go Hogs!  Wooo Pig Sooie!

Jake died in 1992. They have been closed for quite a few years.

Milan, you mentioned getting pizza from Stolfas - is that CJ's or something else.  The closest thing I have had to Casellas pizza is from Beningos.  I know for a fact that one of the ladies who used to work there worked for Casellas in its heyday.

Barbara, Tony Stolfa's, CJ's son, owns this restaurant. I heard that CJ's had great pizza and I am not sure this is the same recipe but it's darned good. I haven't had a Benningo's in many years. They are B/N's best kept secret.

I made pizzas at Casellas for a year while in college. My mother was a waitress there for a number of years. Tootsie and her husband started Beningo's and their  pizza is nothing like Casella's. Where is this other place you mentioned...it surely is not at the same address on Main.  The last time I saw it, it was a sweeper place and pretty well rundown.

Stolfa's Pizza is on the corner of Walnut and Linden Streets.

James Cetin's stone photo is also on Findagrave.com (Park Hill Cem., Bloomington).

Really enjoyed the photos you put on. Can't believe you had one of the Silver Dollar. Jim and I spent too many nights in there.

Also glad to see one of Irving School and was sad to find that the old section had been torn down.

Many of our lost classmates have headstones on Find a grave. My worry is that the more we put pictures in In Memory, the slower it will load. But if people want them posted, I can do it. It's up to the group.

I realize I wasn't able to attend the Class Reunion but will pictures be available of the event? Would love to see a group picture of all my classmates.

If anyone has pictures they took at the reunion and don't know how to load them, let me know. I am positive there will be pictures posted soon.

Remember the engine being moved to Miller Park in 1959? Someone attached a cardboard key so it would look like a toy.

I enjoy Tobin's pizza...thin crust, bacon, onion, and mushroom. I know Jim's gone and all but it still tastes the same and very enjoyable. Earl, will be in florida this winter in our motor coach...want to get togetther? Maybe we can talk about the football games on Front St. The time Mrs. Flickenger hit you with her Hudson. If the NFL had cars and trees or telephone poles to plan their plays around tehy might be more exciting. Eye surgeries all over and we'll be headding out the day after Thanksgiving for Florida. Apending Dec and Jan in Vero Beach. Go You Raiders!

Just received the class picture--it's really good especially for such a large group.  I'm having a hard time figuring out who some people are.  Is anyone else having the same problem?
