I've had several people ask about dress code for BCC. This is copied directly from the newsletter.

CLUBHOUSE DRESS CODE
• Appropriate attire on the golf
course is appropriate throughout
the clubhouse.
• Denim and blue jeans are allowed
throughout the clubhouse.
• Jeans must not be tattered or torn and
all denim must be consistent with the
Club’s high standard of dress.
• Caps must remain forward at all
times in the clubhouse; however,
gentlemen shall remove your caps in
the Fairway Dining Room.

I would think nice shorts or slacks and golf shirts/blouses appropriate but as you see denim and jeans in good condition are not prohibited. We won't need caps inside.

I have a question about the cost. If I cannot make the Saturday night event is there a cost for the Friday night get together at Lakeside? A couple af people have asked me so I thought I would pass it along. Thanks.

In response to Bob Pearsons question and apparently others, this is the content of the mailing that went out to we had hoped all class members. Friday night there is no cost other than what you might consume beverage wise. A donations jar will be placed at the entrance. Not a requirement to put anything in it, but a little bit would be appreciated.

BLOOMINGTON HIGH SCHOOL CLASS OF 1966 50TH REUNION
AUGUST 5TH AND 6TH 2016
It is hard to believe that it has been 50 years since we left the hallowed halls of BHS. To celebrate this milestone, the reunion committee has been planning 2 nights of ‘reunioning’ time. We hope most of you received the card from us back in December to ‘Save the Date’.
We also asked that you sign up at WWW.CLASSCREATOR.COM. This is our very own free to you class member information repository where we can easily communicate to many via one message. If you have not gone to this site, it is really easy to use and rest assured, the committee is not selling your information. Please sign up!

The information that follows hopefully fills in the blanks we could not provide at that first mailing time.
Hey folks, it has been 50 years apart for many of us. Please plan on attending if you can.

Just to show you how small the world is, when I was stationed in California,Air Force I had ran into a fella that became a very good friend who used to live in Illinois and when his wife and him got married, I found out his best man in his wedding was Gerald Jackson from Bloomington Illinois and I said he was my industrial arts teacher Wow then we were the best of friends. I just found out about this site recently. It is amazing to see all the members, and very sad to see those who have passed on.

I wanted to let all of you who are on Facebook about a group called "Bloomington, Il --Remember when". Type this in the search box and check it out. If you like the page, it is easy to join and you can post, make comments, etc. easily.

I need help from BHS classmates. On or near the corner of W. Washington and Morris Ave was a restaurant that had pictures of former boxers on their walls. We can't figure out if it was John and Gene's or the Hickory Pit. Does anyone know?

Susan Donaldson (Wingett)

On the southwest corner was Bittner's restaurant.  I will check with my mom because we went there when I was really young.  The restaurant was owned by Walt Bittner, our former mayor.  John and Genes was on the southeast corner.

Singers from the Class of 1966, Mary Selk is planning a concert for September 30, 2017 at Westminster Village. We rehearse on Thursday and Friday before the concert at 7PM. Then again at 1:30 on concert Saturday before our performance. This may be the last concert Mary plans. I believe Mary is 96 years old now. And that is not why it may be her last. She tried to schedule it with a BHS Class 50th Reunion and the Class of 1967 was her last year in the classroom. If you can make it, please let me know so Mary can plan accordingly

I will not be able to attend but please pass on kind words for Ms. Selk!  Carl Kinzer and I both were in the back of the choir usually causing grief of some kind.  Sadly Carl pass away in June.  I was lucky to see him in February when he was in Florida on vacation!  Also it would be unlikely for me to carry a tune any more but hope the event is successful for all!

Ruth Hanley (Collins)

from Ruth Collins 8/2/17...the performance for Mary Selk sounds great and I would love to be there.  I will add these dates to my calendar. Is this open only to 1966 class or can other BHS graduates who knew Ms. Selk participate?

08/03/17 07:33 AM #39

Milan Jackson

It is open to all singers who knew Mary Selk. We have some coming from the class of 1957 even. :)

08/03/17 09:55 AM #40

Diane Lukens (Engle)

I would like to participate.  Where is the practice?

08/04/17 11:31 AM #41

Milan Jackson

The rehearsals are at Westminster Village as w.ell as the performance. They have a room behind the Community Room for our practice. The performance will be in the large Community Room. Thank you.

Now for some news that may be bad for some and possibly good for others. Mary Selk just called me and someone at Westminster Village messed up and had already scheduled something else for September 30. So our concert will be the previous Saturday, September 23 at 3pm. Rehearsals will be Friday the 22nd at 7:30pm and Saturday at 1:30 prior to the performance. I hope all singers can make that change. Again, sorry for the confusion.

Judy Rank (Vanderhook)

I would like to be a part of this special concert! Would it be OK for my daughter to also participate (her voice is much better than mine!)?

Milan Jackson

Yes Judy, guest are welcome if they can sing.

I regret that I will not be able to attend.

Oh MY,  I didn't know her, but I sing in a large Church Choir here in Naples, Florida.  How I would love to come back to Bloomington and sing at Westminster.  What a great thing to do.

Jean, come if you can. We haven't had much of a response so far. It would be very disappointing if we only had a few show up.
