BLOOMINGTON — Karin Lynn Crew Tebrugge, 67, San Antonio, Texas, died Saturday (Feb. 23, 2013) in San Antonio.
Karin Lynn Crew was born March 2, 1945, in Moline, to Jack and Lillian Crew. After graduating from Moline High School in 1963, she attended the University of Iowa and received her bachelor’s degree in pharmacy. Karin met Al Tebrugge while studying in a class together. They fell in love and were married Aug. 27, 1966. After graduating, Karin and Al were posted to Sitka, Alaska, with the Public Health Service. There they were blessed with two children, Bradley Christopher and Devon Michelle. Following their tour in Alaska, they had a brief stint in Bloomington, before the Lord transplanted them to San Antonio 41 years ago.
After a few part-time pharmacy positions, Karin passionately began her second career in real estate. She started working for Flournoy Real Estate until she moved to ReMax Associates. She served and volunteered on several real estate boards and associations during her distinguished real estate career. During her career, she received numerous awards and honors such as Lifetime Achievement Award, Re/Max True Grit Award, and Platinum Top 50 Award winner numerous times. Karin was a consistent producer, CRS and ABR member, 5 Star Texas Monthly member, and appeared in the SA Business Journal several times. She loved working with each of her San Antonio clients and ensured they found the best home for their family. Over the years, many of her clients became close, personal friends.
Karin was an active member of Wayside Evangelical Church where she applied her experience as a Realtor to assist the church where she served on the building committee. She also attended Bible Study Fellowship classes for many years where she professed her faith in Jesus Christ. Karin exemplified her favorite verse throughout her life, “The Lord Himself goes before you and will be with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.” Deuteronomy 31: 8.
Karin lived life abundantly and embraced extensive world travel, gardening, running, swimming and tennis. Her family will remember her zest for life as she planned amazing family vacations and elaborate “cousin camps” for all her grandchildren. Karin imparted a legacy of faith, compassion and love to all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Karin is survived by her husband, Al, of 46 years; her mother, Lillian Crew; her mother-in-law, Mildred Tebrugge, Bloomington; her son Brad (Tammy), Olympia, Wash., and their three children, Lee Pelton, and Madeline and Isabella Tebrugge; and her daughter Devon (Doyle) Turner, San Antonio, Texas, and their four children, Jordin, Jett, Kenan and Kaleb Turner.
