Kathleen L. Carmody, 64, Bloomington, died peacefully at 9:00am, Sunday (July 29, 2012) at Heartland Healthcare Center, Normal, after a long illness.

There will be a celebration of life Mass in her memory at 11:00am Friday at St. Patricks Catholic Church of Merna in Bloomington.  At Kathleen’s request there will be no visitation.  Cremation rights have been accorded.  Carmody-Flynn Williamsburg Funeral Home, Bloomington, is in charge of the arrangements.

Memorials in Kathleen’s name may be made to the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church of Merna Builng Fund per her wishes.

Kathleen was born September 22, 1947, the second child to Mark S. Carmody and Marge Ann Ryan Carmody.  She and her older brother shared the same birthdate, just two years apart.  She graduated from Holy Trinity High School in 1965, and from the College of St. Theresa in Winona, Minnesota with a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work in 1969.  She got a teaching certificate fron Illinois State University in 1971.  She always said that one of the influential experiences of her life was having parents who believed that higher education was as important for girls as it was for boys.
