Denise C. O’Neill, 76, of Bloomington, passed away at 7:20 p.m., Monday, March 27, 2023 at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington.

Her graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, April 8, 2023 at Holy Cross Cemetery in Normal. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.

Denise was born February 28, 1947, in Racine, Wisconsin. Her parents, Dennis W. and Gertrude C. (Sandwell) O’Neill preceded her in death. Denise had been married to Marvin Newmister.

She is survived by three children, Kristie (Kirkland Grant) Newmister and Theresa (Scott) Stoewer, both of Bloomington; and Brian “BJ” (Alyssa) Newmister of Bartonville; thirteen grandchildren, Levi (Brooke) Manley, Jozlin (Arlo) Manley, Kellen Kiley and Myla Grant; Savanna, Hayden, Summer, Reed and Sabrina Stoewer; Noah and Brooke Newmister, Taylor Tow and Harrison and Mason Herman; five great-grandchildren, LeAnnah, Tyson, Legend, Eleanor and Le’Aire; and a sister, Sheila (John) Trembley of Normal.

Denise was a 1965 graduate of Trinity High School and received an associate degree from Mount St. Clare College in Clinton, Iowa. She worked in claims for State Farm for over twenty years and always enjoyed helping customers.

Denise loved gardening and true crime shows, but most of all, her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
