John W. Cox of Palatine, 65, passed away May 5, 2012, after a prolonged illness.  A celebration of life will be held on Friday May 11, from 4 until 7 p.m. at St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Downers Grove, Ill.  In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the American Diabetes Association.

Surviving are his mother, Irene Cox of Bloomington, Ill.; wife, Mary Cox of Lake Zurich, Ill.; brother, Charles (Mary) Cox of Normal, Ill.; children, Lisa (Mike) Spencer of LeRoy, Ill., John Cox of New York City, N.Y., Jennifer Cox of Bloomington, Ill., Mike (Ellen) Spitalli of Naperville, Ill., Carrie Cognaq of Lake Zurich, Ill. and Scott (Ana) Spitalli of Antioch, Ill.; grandchildren, Cody and Caleb Spencer, Amanda and Paul Spitalli, Alexa Spitalli, and Madison and Conner Cognaq; brothers-in-law, Gus (Dottie) Siapkaris and Tom (Sandra) Siapkaris; and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his father, Charles W. Cox.

John had a passion for cars, a love of fishing, and a hobby of taking pictures.  He also loved playing with his grandchildren.  He will be missed by all who knew him.
