Chicago Tribune – May 1, 2016
Michael "Mick" Edward King, 69, of Chicago, Illinois, passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by family, on April 25, 2016 due to a cardio-pulmonary condition.
Mick is survived by his loving wife Margaret of 48 years, son Michael Christian, daughter-in-law Carrie Jeannette, grandson Joshua James, daughter Sarah Haynes, seven brothers and sisters, and lots of extended family. Mick was a kind and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.
Over the 40 years he lived in his home with Margaret, Mick hosted countless gatherings and visitors, and also enjoyed solitude on his porch. Ever the intellectual, he read avidly, including waking up to "memorize the paper" each morning. He was a man of deep faith and volunteered at the Church for many years. He loved his family "madly," especially his children, grandson, and his "sweetness," his wife.
The family's gratitude knows no bounds for JourneyCare palliative and hospice service for their care and support during Mick's final months at home. Also, thanks to Queen of Angels for the arrangements of his send-off. The Visitation will be at 10:00am on Monday, May 2nd at Queen of Angels Church, with the Funeral to follow there at 11:00am. Donations can be made in his honor to JourneyCare at journeycare.com/donate.
