
Michael A. Zebarth
Michael A. Zebarth born September 12th, 1947, passed peacefully on Tuesday, October 3rd at Midstate Hospital in Meriden, CT.
Mike was born in Galesburg, IL to Ralph and Florence Zebarth and grew up in Bloomington, IL where he attended Trinity High School. Mike attended Illinois State University in Normal, IL where he met his wife, Linda (Clark). Mike later went on to earn his master's degree in physics at Eastern Illinois State University.
Mike began his career in 1970 as a teacher (Physics and Math) and coach (Wresting, Football and Track) in Mansfield, Gibson City and O'Fallon, Illinois.
In 1979, Mike joined Canberra Industries and relocated in 1981 to Connecticut with his family to Canberra's Headquarters in Meriden, CT. Mike worked at Canberra for 20 years in many roles including: VP of Sales and Marketing, VP of Worldwide Sales and Marketing, Chairman of Harwell Instruments Div, and finally VP of Corporate Communications and Investor Relations before his early retirement shortly after the premature passing of his wife, Linda in 1998.
Mike returned to work to pursue his love of teaching in 2003 as the Director of The Project to Increase Mastery of Math and Science (PIMMS) at Wesleyan University and completed his 2nd retirement 8 years later in 2011.
Mike remarried in 2001 and is survived by his wife Pamela Myjak of Rockfall, his two sons and wives: Dave and Jennifer Zebarth of Cheshire and Brian and Jennifer Zebarth of East Hampton and three grandchildren: Ian, Drew, and Alenna.
Mike gave back to the community as an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, board member of CT Public Broadcasting, and The United Way of Meriden. He loved reading, astronomy, fishing, traveling, cooking, and spending time with his family.
Calling hours will be held at D'Angelo Funeral Home in Middletown on Thursday evening October 26th from 5-7p.m.
