mark Chap...

I didnt see the OG pictures in any of the books, although I didnt have time yesterday to really unload the trunk and see what was in there. Surpisingly though, I had ALL three yearbooks from Oak Grove with all my JFK yearbooks.....all cheerleader stuff, and a lot of pictures that are disintegrating from the poor conditions of storage ( extreme heat all those years in FL & TX in storage)

You will get a hoot to know that I have Music from Oak Grove still in my piano bench! 2 Pieces still numbered, and some copied stuff from Mr Kramer. (some peieces he use to give us in orangish-yellow paper...)Go Ye into all the world....still in there, and then some stuff from Oliver, that year we did that musical Then remember the " american musical we did? All The girls wearing the red/or white dresses!?...wow!

well lots to do today, dont think I will get back to check in the forum today...have fun, and hope to see lots more funny stories when I rtn.

I remember most of that stuff. "Go ye" was a madrigal. I remember learning that word because of that song. I was an old man in Oliver in the orphanage. My one line was, "I've brought the boy ma'am." You can see I learned it well. I was supposed to say it with a british accent. ha!
I had season tickets to the Kicks and never made it into the last game I went to. I also never made it home. I crashed into a pole on the way home and spent the next 28 days at Southdale Fairview.

When I started to go through the "trunk of memories" I found the original ticket to get into the " Evening Of Fantasy" which was the title of our " Tri-School" Prom. OK, I have so many things I remembered, but how could I forget those details ! TRI-School, at the U of MN, Coffman Union Great Hall !? WOW, Sorry Steve, How could I have forgotton that !? We looked cute though; we were going to have alot of fun but......didnt have that in immediate recall!
( Don't know how that tid bit didnt stay in the brain)

Also found my original " program" to the class party,
" Welcome to Kennedy Space Center" with all the fun stuff planned for us that night. I made a copy, and will try and send it Monday to Craig, in case some of you dont still have yours and would like to see it!

i see Jeff Sobolik put some stuff on his profile! it has been a long time Jeff!!!

i remember my dad asking if i knew this neighborhood kid named Jeff. he wanted our garbage cans as he was going to try and break the world record for jumping over the cans...on his bike. not sure whatever happened and i don't remember asking him. that must have been in early junior high. if you are reading this Jeff, glad to see you are still the daredevil and hope to see you at the reunion.

i also remember Jeff bringing his non-alcholic beverages to parties...we all thought that was sweet.

no one has posted since last night, glad to see many of you made it to church this morning...bedtime baptist maybe? we all know Mark C. was working this morning...sorry to hear about your oak grove yearbooks. BUMMER! what was your sermon on this morning? i hope it wasn't about people ditching church once in a while. jk

Jeff Richards...do you remember Bernie Riekena's driver ed class?...i think you were in there with me. he was a trip...of course, so were you. :-)

cheerleading....i remember my soph. year. we had crushes on some of the senior cheerleaders....Ann Pidde and Linda Kappes....I remember Linda getting mad at us at one away bb game. who knows what were saying...and we thought Bobby Graden, et. al, were the best. they were our heroes (at least to some of us jocks anyway...), along with Bergloff and McCann, etc. on the hockey team (i still remember their jersey numbers i think, 3 and 16....and Bob Cherry...wow, some good seniors that year...good times.

Hello Kirk,
I do remember Bernie Riekena's class, I always liked him. What I remember is he was kind of a gruff guy but a good driver's ed teacher. Remember the OHIO STATE HIGHWAY PATROL movies I think we had a few people that had to get up an leave class, they were nasty. Also after drivers ed portion of the semester we had another class, maybe health. I can't remember the teachers name but he hated me. Do you remember when he snapped on me and yelled at me for about 5 minutes? To this day I do not know what I did to provoke him.

Jeff,

i do remember Riekana being tough. i did not have him in the car, but just in class. was our teacher for health, Bergy Lang, blondish hair? (not sure if i remember him yelling at you...but that is too bad) that is who comes to mind, but i am not sure...as i am finding out, my memory is real good in some things, not so good in others.

i was just on the phone with a friend of mine who was at the Jefferson reunion, he said alot of the conversations were..."who are you?, where are you?, and how many kids?..then someone else would come along and he would start over. i think with this website, THANKS AGAIN CRAIG, there will be alot less of that at the Kennedy78 reunion!

I think Bergy Lange was a business teacher until our senior year and then he took some administration position maybe Dean or something like that. The name that comes to mind is Weiss but my memory is not so good in some areas either.

I remember Lange. I also remember sitting next to you and Aubrey.

Susan Orrie, how are you? Great pictures on your profile. How is California?

08/17/08 06:39 PM #379

Cindy L. Westlund (Kriesel)

Susan Orrie - I love the photos on your profile! The cars in the parking lot are especially funny to me. I am in awe of the Blaine High School parking lot (probably most HS lots these days) - these kids drive nicer cars than I do! And my kids never believed me - now I have proof :)

Jeff R., Still loving CA. The pictures are random, but so fun to run into. I think Barb B. may not be so happy about some of them. We'll see!

How are you and will you be back in time?

08/17/08 06:50 PM #381

Susan Orrie (Somers)

Cindy, I know what you mean. I was surprised at how junkie the cars look. I didn't remember it that way.

Cindy and Susan:

Back then I didn't care what my car looked like. I was just grateful I had a set of wheels that worked!

Wow, you guys had cars in high school? I remember one of the driver's ed films in Riekena's class was called "Mechanized Death." For some reason that title stuck with me.

Intramural sports were great. We had some crazy broomball teams. Anyone remember midnight broomball on Christmas Eve? We could turn the lights on at the Kennedy rinks and play all night.

I had a pea green'67 Chevelle and Barb Brings had a pea green Dodge Dart. We both lived down by 107th and Nicollet. We would on occasion race home. Barb and I lived within a block of each other and drove separate cars. The reason for that was in the spring, my car smelled like rotten mold and she would not ride in my car. I can't blame her for that. It was BAD!

Cindy L. Westlund (Kriesel)

Adam, I know what you mean! My parents didn't let me drive my '69 Dodge Dart to school - they figured I could walk the 3-4 blocks. I was so glad to have that car though - it didn't matter that it was a bomb - it got me places :)

At least mine wasn't pea green!

Mark - I remember playing intramural broomball. That was before there was special equipment to use - we actually wore regular tennis shoes and used old brooms all taped up. Boy, are we old or what?!

67 chevelle!!!! I'd give my right arm for that car today. I drove a 1970 Ford Galaxie 500 2 door. Then I bought my 66 mustang from Bruce Nesbit..Drove it for about 5 months before I totaled it and ended up in the hospital for most of the summer between our Jr & sr year. So...That was the main reason my Hair looked so funkie in My Sr. Picture...That's my story and I'm sticking to it...:-)

Sue Ellen M. Peterson (Polson)

I had a '65 mustang for about 3 months till Lori Jenson and I went teepeeing and I ran in to a parked car and totaled it. Then I got a '68 cougar, I remember someone smoking something funky in it in the parking lot...

Posted some more old photos on my profile, got some kicks tailgating pictures, so wierd to see Met Stadium.
