Dave Grace is spot on. We has a fantastic band and orchestra program in BI. Plus we had shop, home economics, and PE. Today's kids are being shorted on many fronts.

Ditto to Christine's praise for the work you do on our behalf. Special thanks comes from me because you included me as a member even though I did not graduate with the class. I want them to know that due to being in the group, I attended the 50th reunion with DDEHS instead of attending the class reunion of the Vero Beach FL high school I attended after leaving Blue Island. BI is and always will be "my hometown." The impact on my life from being raised in and around BI is reflected in all my books, but most in ANOTHER SOUTHSIDE which was the reason I was on WGN 720 AM radio twice for interviews. Thanks Fred-keep up the stellar work!

i see that you still reside in Blue Island. How do you like it? My family went to Florida after my illness, but I always think about growing up in BI. Over the years it has crept into evry bit of my writings. Hope you are well and enjoying life in that wonderful town.
