I got my Communications degree from Ohio University in 1973 and spent 15+ years in radio. For 33+ years I was Copy Director for a marketing and public relations firm here in Boardman. I retired July 30, 2021.
Next to family, music is still the most important thing in my life. I've played out regularly in bands ever since my BHS days, both acoustic and electric ones. I formed a band in college with guys who are still my best friends today, and we gather together twice a year to jam and record. I also have written many songs over the years.
I have three great kids who I'm very proud of, and count myself a lucky guy.
I can't be the first person to observe that BHS was just a wee bit, shall we say, on the "clique-y" side. Fortunately, I had a core group of great friends, and we each had friends of our own on all sides of the fence, meaning we could make fun of everybody equally!
I have a strong memory of the high school dances, and most of the time (with notable exceptions!) being more interested in watching the bands play than in dancing. I remember our own Act One with particular fondness (hi Dave, Scott and Steve), and them opening their set with "Interstellar Overdrive" by Pink Floyd.
My other most prominent memories are of the great teachers who influenced me, like Miss Zagorec, Mr. Luce, Mr. Dykins and Mlle. Klinger. I can still see them and hear their voices.
