Comments:

When in grade school, I enjoyed WAY TOO MUCH (and memorized!) Robert Frost's 1920 poem "The Road Not Taken" [Google it! :-)p]...I have pretty much lived that kind of life...In the past 10 years I decided to "take an early retirement" and after having visited/toured many different countries of the world, decided to "drop anchor" here in the "perpetual summer" tropics of the inimitable Nicaragua, Central America. I live just outside of the colonial capitol of Granada - just off Lake Nicaragua, 1/2 hour from Managua. I'm living "large" and I like it here...it's an interesting life! ((-:

School Story:

One of my faves - PAUL HUTCHISON "Senior Day" (last day of school): A group of us had an unforgetable(?)/quite enjoyable(!) "breakfast celebration", filled with many "toasts". We all (AND PAUL!) came "a little late" to school...we were all "well toasted", you might say! ((-: Ms. Zagoric(?) didn't like Paul's "state of being", sooo she marched him down to Mr. Selby's office - where Paul was "booted" from school! I remember Cathy Tepsick crying to me [ooo and aaahhh! :-)p] about Paul maybe "blowing his future" with the Coast Guard Academy opportunity. I subsequently took it on myself to go head-to-head with Principal Selby in his office (debate anyone?) . Needless to say, the debate didn't last long. Naturally, I did NOT win, nor did I save my good buddy Paul's "arse", BUT...life did and DOES "always" go on, eh!?! IT's FUN TO LOOK BACK AND LAUGH!!! ((-:

Always good to see your name, my longtime friend. I really enjoy our present-day cell phone talks and in-person get-togethers, plus our past memories are multiple and quite unique, for sure! ((-: It was wonderful seeing your digs on that cold spring day; my family and I LOVED your home and seeing you & Marilyn!

What can you say/write about Brad? I knew him since the age of 3-5, and we had 100s of experiences together as we were "growing up" - in school, church, choirs, youth groups, speech team, his home & family, Portland visits, FB chats, et al...RIP, my friend. You were one unique & interesting guy!!!   ((-;

Tom was an incredible guy, and a fellow '69 graduate of Boardman High School - the last class to graduate from "the old building". Tom always had a certain size, look and demeanor about him in the hallways of BHS: he was tall & good sized, wore black "hoody" kind of shoes (I bought a pair just like his!), and was kind of our version, or one of our versions, of James Dean. He was always "cool" and good with me, and we talked on various occasions. He even invited me to a "hood party" during our senior year, which I gladly attended - on the night of our SATs, of all nights - at Mooney High school the following morning, nonetheless!

Anyway, Tom would often come down the hallway with John Strong (another RIPer), and Gary McMasters (or was it Greg?), and they always had a funky, hoody kind of retro feel to them. I liked it, and they always smiled and talked to me.

I remember one time someone shouted to me "Hey, Powell, there's a fight in the schoolyard in 10 minutes"; I hustled outside to see Tom Bierdeman beat the "living s***" out of another kid. I can't recall who the other fighter was, but needless to say, guess who I was rooting for! ((-:

Aaahhh, the memories of those years, and the memories of Tom Bierdeman, John Strong, and many others...rest in peace, my friend. I like your latest photo, but wouldn't have recognized you!!! I LOVED reading your life story, BTW...  ((-;

SORRY TO HEAR...I knew Tom McKendry first in kindergarten & first grade at the new West Blvd. Elementary School. We were only 5 & 6 years old! He was an Irish, freckled, hot-blooded kid, and I was a short-tempered, athletic & quick Welsh-German kid (both USA versions)...Tom had a "gang"/following of sorts - as did I...we had it out (like good buddy Kim Ridinger did too), and Tom & I "grappled" in the stones & blacktop (back by the swings) during recess. We rolled around on the ground, wrestling & swinging at each other...I got him down and was on top of him but he reversed me, kicked his way off, and got on top of me...as I tried to kick him off he all-of-a-sudden FLEW to the ground with a loud THUD and I was surprised at my "sudden strength", only to see the face of my 2nd-grade sister Karen who threw him to the ground when she saw him on top of me...THANKS, Karen, and Tom & I were always friends thereafter - knowing that my sister might be lurking in the bushes!!!  ((-;  Tom had a fun personality & sense of humor and was full of Irish boy passion...RIP, Tom; enjoyed speaking with you at our last reunion...again, RIP, my friend; you were a unique one...  ((-;

I am so sorry, and it's sad to hear this news. The comments above are a reflection of who Judy was. I remember her to be a real cutie in school, and she always smiled was friendly to everyone, and was always very nice to me. May her soul rest in peace.

Aaahhh, "Billy" McKibben" - the Cranberry Run Drive kid: one of the best drummers and ball handlers (basketball) in all of Boardman...a GREAT West Blvd. Wildcat & good friend in the 1950s and 60s...also, had (has?) one of the "cutest girlfriends" in school...so good to see your name, amigo...super memories of you - faded as they are!!!
