Jim Gustafson started playing and singing as a professional musician at age 14. He has played more than 3000 shows in the USA and Canada. His first album was recorded in 1971 with Billy Cox , bass guitarist from Jimi Hendrix's Band of Gypsys, producing the project. Jim's first studio recording was at age 14, as a freshman at Boardman High.That band was the Daze Endz, recording an original song written and sang by Jim. Another record as Biggy Rat was released at age 18, shortly after graduation. Soon Jim found himself playing at The Who's private aftershow party in Cleveland! What fun!
Jim released the first Poobah LP record in 1972. It has become one of a group of highly collectible albums, seen online selling for almost $1000 for a single original copy. Poobah has released 14 albums ,with all songs written by Jim Gustafson. Advertised in many international music magazines, including Rolling Stone, Guitar World, USA Today, Classic Rock (Europe), Goldmine, This Is Rock(Spain), Mojo magazine (UK) and many more. Poobah has appeared at the Cleveland Rock and Roll Hall of Fame more than any other artist (a record 12 shows), Poobah continues to play live and make recordings, with new releases coming soon. Jim has played shows with many famous artists, including Ted Nugent, Alice Cooper, Cheech and Chong, Judas Priest, (John Lennon's son) Sean Lennon, Les Claypool (of Southpark song fame/Primus) ,Canned Heat, Foghat, ZZ Top,

I think Boardman was a good school, and I feel my English classes allowed me to develop a set of good song writing skills. During my time in high school ,I worked many hours as an entertainer, sometimes working from 9pm to 2 am, getting home at 3am, and then going to class at 7:30am.
Sometimes I recall being a person involved with a silly high school drama, and am sure sorry for anyone I may have hurt emotionally or physically. Kids can be so silly.
Teachers at Boardman were good and bad, like any school. Most kids were friendly, and there were many cute girls there.
It was great fun playing with my various bands at school dances. After seeing my sister and her hot friends going ga ga over the Beatles, I knew I wanted that job, so I found myself with my Grandma (who would have bought me anything, if she could), so I ended up at the music store ,and with a guitar at 13!
