Jean Krembs Rose Humphries WEST HURLEY- Jean Krembs Rose Humphries, 55, passed away in the arms of her loving husband Peter Humphries in the early morning hours of Sunday, Aug. 14, 2016, at her home after a 4 1/2 year courageous battle with brain cancer. Born July 2, 1961 in Philadelphia, Pa., she was the daughter of Shirley Rostel Krembs of Rhinebeck, N.Y., and the late George Krembs. Jean was a graduate of Onteora High School and Colorado College where she received her B.F.A. She went on to get her advanced graduate certificate in math education from Smith College. Jean went on to becoming a distinguished staff member at Ulster County Community College where she inspired all around her with her bravery, strength and beautiful spirit. She joined the College’s staff in 1991 as a Community Relations Assistant. In 1993 she became Coordinator of Publications and Special Events and in 1995 the Site Coordinator at the Business Resource Center. In 1997 she returned to the Community Relations Office. She served as Coordinator of Special Events from 2000 to 2005 and then served as the Executive Assistant to the President and Secretary to the Board of Trustees from 2005 to 2012. Jean was at outstanding member of the Colleges administration and Presidents Executive Staff having been instrumental in the development of the Colleges cultural affairs programs and community activities as well as the development of College-wide policies to improve programs and services. Before joining the College Jean had a distinguished career working in theater. She served as Executive Director of Ulster Performing Arts Center and River Arts Repertory of Woodstock. She was a tireless supporter of the performing arts. Surviving in addition to her husband Peter Humphries and her mother; is a daughter, Ashley Rose of Saugerties N.Y.; her siblings, Lynn, Mary, Susan and David Krembs; and beloved nieces and nephews. A “Celebration of Jean’s Life” Will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Aug. 26, 2016, at “The Château” at 240 Boulevard, Route 32, Kingston, N.Y., 12401. Contributions in lieu of flowers are requested to be made to Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in memory of Jean Rose. Contributions will be accepted at the celebration or please send to 22 Tanglewood Rd., West Hurley, N.Y., 12491. These donations will go to the Center to continue their research in the cure of brain cancer.
