Donn Jackson Lake

Donn J. Lake, 85, of Ireland, WV, passed away on January 17th, 2025 at his home. He was born in Richwood, WV on October, 19th, 1939, to parents Hayward and Leo (Dennison) Lake.

Donn grew up in Exchange, WV before moving to Borger, TX for high school. He met and married, Linda Walker, his high school sweetheart and they moved to Pasadena, TX, and had two children. In 1971, he married the love of his life, Karron Pruett Lake. Together they raised four children. He worked for the Pasadena school district, before having a long and influential career as an iron worker. He made a name for himself as a highly respected and exceptionally skilled iron worker which led him to travel for work across the United States. Donn was honest and a hard worker who loved competition and being a prankster. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. Donn’s legacy not only impacted and enriched his own family but left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He never met a stranger and would gladly give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. His caring and compassionate nature will forever be remembered by his family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Karron Lake; son, Scott Lake; grandson, Jeremy Lake; sisters, Kathleen Cooper and Dorleen Williams and brother, John Lake.

Donn was a loving father to his children; Donna (David) Browne, Troy (Rena) Lake, Robin (Steve) Crane, daughter-in-law (Jasmine Lake), Jenifer Lake, Renee (Eric) Tanner. He was a cherished grandfather to Brandi Kellogg, Cristen Choriego, Cameron Chorenziak, Summer Hopkins, Justin Lake, Makayla Crane, Grant Crane, Karo Khudanyan, Karolina Khudanyan, Natalie Lake, Joshua Summers, Thomas Sartin, Teagan Sartin, Noah Tanner, Lexus Tanner, Leah Tanner, Alexandria Cutlip. Beloved great-grandfather to Taylor, Kyra, Kayleigh, Jaida, Isabella, Cristian, Dade, Lennox, Scarlett, Sawyer, Hunter, Charley Ann, and Vivienne.

Service for Donn will be at 1 pm, Saturday, January 25, 2025, at Stockert Funeral Home, 378 Flatwoods Corner Road, Flatwoods, WV. Visitation will be two hours before the service from 11-1 pm. Final resting place will be in the Flatwoods Cemetery, Flatwoods, WV.
