Sixteen Candles
The Breakfast Club
Pretty in Pink (1986)
Poor new-waver Andie Walsh (Ringwald) has a crush on rich preppie Blane McDonough (McCarthy), but best friend Duckie (Cryer), also a new-waver, has a crush on her and is jealous of her dating Blane.
The entire movie is focused on the differences between the social circles of the two, how their friends try to spoil the relationship, and how Blane is a little too wimpy for most of the movie to stand up for Andie to his "richie" friends.
In the end, Blane proves himself to be different from his friends but... well, nevermind. Watch the movie for yourself!
St. Elmo's Fire
St. Elmo's Fire was not the best "brat pack" film, but it featured the most castmembers from the brat pack, excluding only Molly Ringwald and Anthony Michael Hall.
The movie centers around a group of friends who recently graduated from Georgetown University and are struggling to leave behind their youth and become responsible adults. The group deals with broken relationships, trepidation about career moves, and trying to move ahead in life.
Again, not the best film, but a must see if you love the eighties and haven't seen it yet.
Ferris Bueller's Day Off (1986)
Ferris Bueller (Broderick) is a Chicago area high school senior who decides to take a day off of school by calling in sick. He convinces his girlfriend (Sara) and his best friend (Ruck) to skip school with him, and the trio embark on an adventure in Chicago. They have fun as they try to avoid Bueller's parents and maintain the facade that he is sick.
Meanwhile, Bueller's sister (Grey) and the high school principal are trying to catch him in the act (of truancy), and hilarity ensues.
