Michael was both a classmate and good friend.  We grew up riding motor scooters together.  His mother always had goodies for us after school.  After graduation we took his new 1956 Ford Thunderbird to Reno so he could visit his girlfriend who had moved from BC to Reno in our Senior year.  I was proud that he had been selected to attend the first Freshman class of the new Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs.  Naturally, I was also devasted to hear about his death while serving in Viet Nam.  Mike, I think about you often.  RIP.

Dear Jim...thanks for posting the info about Mike Hyde, one of my 1956 BCHS classmates. A brief and funny remembrance about Mike back in our Senior year. Mike had just received a new Tbird ...the small sporty one...from his Mom . For some reason I was riding with Mike in his new Tbird late at night ...this was unusual because I was not considered one of Mike's closest friends...just a close classmate. We were driving down to Lake Mead on the newly paved...and yet to be lined...blacktop road. The road was curveless and Mike suddenly laughed and turned off the headlights. We drove in pitch black for what felt to me an eternity...but was probably only seconds. He turned the lights back on, we laughed heartedly, and we continued down to Boulder Beach. Its hard to think that just 10 years later he was killed while flying an F100 while defending his country. God Bless all our Vets, living and deceased.

Rest in Peace Mike.  I remember well how proud everyone was with Mike's appointment.  He served our country well.

Mike and his sister, Caroyl(sp)  Lived behind us.  He could throw a baseball quite well!  He wasn't bad with rocks either.  I cought one just above my right eye.  Mike you were one of several I lost over there.  A rotten thing it was.  Jim. R.
