Ahhh! How wonderful that you knew him and you shared that with me!!! Thank you. I can't wait to share your comments with my twin sister. We grab on to any morsel of info about him. He was an amazing father and our loss of him will always be tender in our hearts.
I'm going to work on a little memorial for him that would be wonderful for you to post. He is missed every day and I want something special posted about him.
You made my day, Jim. THANK YOU!!! I'll write back soon or my sister will.

Because our Dad was born with an eternal youthful soul, he was a superb father. He was intelligent, maintained a high standard of values, and was a genuinely nice guy. His advice to everyone was to enjoy life and now these golden words have become our priceless inheritance.
With warmest regard,
Heidi Ainsworth

Posted for William Taylor:
Leonard was one of my first mentors in the water industry. He was brillant and very inspiring; I might say he was what I wanted to be someday. I worked with Leonard in the City of Oceanside, and had taken some classes in water technology with him as the instructor. I actually went flying with him a couple of times out of the Oceanside municipal airport. He was indeed a character. After I left Oceanside, I saw him several times at the annual American Waterworks conferences. It broke my heart when I heard of his passing. RIP Leonard Ainsworth, as I use to say "U dah man......!!!"

Leonard was my older brother and one of the most unique, talented, intelligent, and creatively witty and funny men I have ever known. It's hard to describe a person who is truly one of a kind...there will never be another Leonard. Sadly he died in a plane crash in 1999..through no fault of his own. His lifelong hobby was flying and he bought a seaplane (Osprey) built by somebody else and it fell apart in midair. He was only 62 and just retired from an extremely productive life: the manager of city water departments, and father of 4, an artist, writer, and amazing musician. He mastered and played TEN musical instruments! If you'd like to get a better glimpse of Leonard, please click on this short article I wrote for BWH Magazine to honor him and his creatively unconventional solutions to challenges in life.

Anyone who ever knew Leonard will enjoy this article and the many photos of Leonard I illustrated it with.
The photo below is Leonard with his '36 Chevy at age 17 in highschool in Boulder City. He graduated in 1955 and won the fullride Harold's Club scholarship to the U of N in Reno for being a brainiac in science and math all through school..on the honor roll for 4 years. He and my other older brother Gene (class of 1954) were my heroes and still are.
Thank you,
Dorothy Ainsworth
