Jon was a great friend and one of the best persons I've known. Always a level headed person who thought things through before making a decision. He loved basketball in school and very intelligent. He did many interesting things; training monkeys etc. After school he loved his job working in a cabinet shop in Vegas. One special memory was helping him replace the laminate counter top in the Coffee Cup Cafe in BC. He was great to be around. I was especially close to him after he became a Christian and worked with him in ministry at the old Foursquare Church in Boulder City. He was living in Illinois when he passed away. He was involved in ministry in the local Assembly of God church there playing guitar with the music team. His life was a true testimony of a life centered in the Lord Jesus. His life touched many other people over the years. He will be missed very much.

My heart aches to learn of the passing of a fellow student for whom I had the greatest admiration and respect. Jon was extremely bright and intelligent, but even more importantly, he was decent and kind. I will always remember his mother stopping to say hello as she walked down our street (Ave. G), with a monkey on her shoulder. Jon was a faithful servant of his Lord; and we can take comfort in our memories of him and in the sure and certain knowledge that, in life and in death, Jon belongs to God. My prayers go out to his family and to all who were lucky enough to know and love him.

I am shocked by this news and feel a loss for sure. I knew Jon casually growing up in Boulder City, he being a year older in school. When I followed Facebook in the last four years, Jon was a refreshing presence on my posts. Jon and I differed greatly on issues and he had the directness to challenge my assertions and give me his usually alternate perspective. What I especially appreciated was how Jon would rationally and thoughtfully discuss events of community, national or worldwide significance without rancor; with a perspective that including the big picture. For Jon that meant his faith and embrace of a power larger than us and celestial purposes he held dear. We had many discussions to-be-continued; the last seemingly not so long ago, and now sadly they will not be so. Yet I cherish our interactions and Jon's willingness to engage another BCer, for we both had the experience of growing up in our small town, with its sometimes provincial ways, but tied to our world famous neighbor in the next valley over. Thank you, Jon for making my life fuller.

Jon was in some of my classes and me being a shy person I didn't talk to many classmates but Jon was always easy to be around. I'm so sorry for his family and friends. May he rest in peace Mary (Quinn) Peterson class of 65
