He is survived by his wife, Heather; and their four children, Carson, Megan, Emma and Mason; as well as his mother, Sandie; his father, Allan; and his five siblings, Phil, Matt, Paul, Micheline and Andrew.
Mark was born June 10, 1971 in Salt Lake City and grew up in Bountiful, Utah where he graduated from Bountiful High School in 1989. Mark was called to the Spain Bilbao mission and served from 1990 to 1992. After his mission, he returned to Salt Lake City to attend The University of Utah where met his future wife. Mark and Heather were married on December 11, 1993. He graduated with his Bachelor’s degree in 1997. Mark and Heather had their first two children before moving to San Antonio in 2005 where they continued to raise their family and had two more children.
Mark worked as an IT and Cloud Solutions Architect with many companies over the years. His work in the field netted him many accolades as professionals he worked with recognized his dedication, talent, and hardworking attitude in his profession.
Mark applied this same dedication and care to his callings within The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served his fellow disciples of Christ in many callings, including Stake Young Men’s President, Stake High Counselor, and most recently, Bishop of the Stone Oak Ward. Mark poured his heart into caring for those around him, both inside and outside of the church.
Mark lived his life with excitement and love each day and treated every moment like something to learn and grow from. He enjoyed building custom keyboards, playing songs on his guitar for his wife and children, and most of all, he loved taking care of and helping his loved ones in any way he could. Mark’s passion for the Book of Mormon was felt by those around him as he shared his testimony of it. Mark had a great love for the scriptures and often enjoyed a “deep dive” into the Word of God.
Mark loved to bless the lives of others and be the hands and feet of the Lord, serving as He would. Mark will be profoundly missed as he joins the Lord in His holy home above.
The 53 years of Mark's life he lived were so full of love for what he did and the people he served, but no one felt his love more deeply than his family. Mark was an incredible father and the best husband Heather could ever ask for. There wasn’t a moment of his life that his family wasn’t at the forefront of his thoughts. Mark’s devotion to those he cherished was felt in every moment as he held them all close, laughed with them often as his infectious smile spread joy and love. His constant support, guidance, and undying love will never be forgotten.
