Lynn R. Spafford grew up in Bountiful, Utah. He purchased the diamond valley guest ranch in 1995,and has enjoyed peacefully living on his 14 acre ranch for 30 years. After high school, Lynn went to Hawaii for 3 years in 1970-1974, where he discovered his love of other cultures, conversation with people, american made cars, racing cars, traveling, and the beach, and cars. He found his independence in Hawaii, and that his knowledge of cars was in high demand.
Lynn R. Spafford created and managed a successful automotive business, retail parts and cylinder head machine shop for 6 years. He was computer savvy in an era that computers were intimidating to most people. He learned how to market, distribute, and sell products. He mastered the art of competitive pricing strategy and marketing, to increase net profit. He designed a unique accounting software program for 50,000 auto parts that would later revolutionize the auto parts industry. Lynn’s impressive software program, helped track inventory of 50,000 auto parts, and assisted in purchase orders, accounts receivable, and accounts payable. In 1984, He sold his software design to a fortune 500 company, who implemented his software into their auto parts corporation.
Lynn R. Spafford purchased a Yacht, with the proceeds from the sale of his successful accounting software program. He spent a lot of time on Lake Powell and Lake Mead, where he enjoyed water sports and an early retirement. After only 2 years, Lynn was enticed by a new risky business adventure, and seized the opportunity.
Lynn R. Spafford purchased some dry cleaning machinery at a bank auction, 1987. He decided to create a dry cleaning production plant, in North Salt Lake, Utah. He began the business operations with 2 store locations. Clients would deliver and pick up their clothes for dry cleaning. He learned about the production and distribution aspect of business operations during that time. He built a production plant specializing in laundry cleaning services. The business began cleaning clothes, but the company expanded to specialize in cleaning house apparel for disaster relief companies, with a 95 % net profit. He sold it in 1995.
Lynn R. Spafford and his beautiful wife moved to St. George, Utah in 1995, and opened a 5000 square foot dry cleaning operation. They were an exceptional marital and business partnership, due to their experience and expertise in the field. She was the expert of fabric and production, and he found his niche in finance and sales. They became a power couple. He said “ I wasn’t the best student, but I was smart enough to hire the good students. I hired professional lawyers, accountants, and finance advisors.” Their dry cleaning business grew and expanded so much within 7 years, due to big contracts with disaster restoration companies. They built another multi million dollar production plant 6 miles away in Washington City, Utah to cater to their wholesale clients. The original production building in St. George caught on fire, from a lightning strike. They overcame this devastating tragedy with another victory, when they later sold the property to a Mercedes dealership.
The Malibu Cleaners company that Lynn R. Spafford built is one of the most profitable dry cleaning services expanding from St George, Utah to Mesquite, Nevada. He sold his company last month and retired, in Costa Rica. He spends his days “living the dream” at the beach in a hammock, with friends.
