Comments:

My husband and I have been married now for over 16 years. He has been in the Marine Corps for about 18 years and will be able to retire in 2 and still be young enough to seek another career. I teach at a Department of Defense school aboard Camp Lejeune, NC, and have been there for four years now. It is an awesome experience working with only military children. I didn't go back to college until after we had our first child. It took me about 6 years to earn my degree in Middle School Education due to my husband transferring with the Marine Corps. I attended Coastal Carolina Community College, Boise State(which is when we had our second child), then finally graduated from University of North Carolina in Wilmington in December 2000. The next June we moved to Iowa for my husband to recruit. I then taught at a high school for three years, attended Clarke College, got pregnant with twins, but continued on to earn a Masters Degree in Special Education in December of 2003. My twins were born November of 2002 and with my husband being busy with recruiting hours there was no down time for me. The following summer we moved back to NC for the third time and have been here since. We plan on staying here even after he retires from the Marines because I love my job and our kids are situated here with their friends and all of their sports. The last time we moved our oldest, Alix was in 5th grade and now she will be in 10th. She is a straight A student, cheers for the varsity squad, plays softball, soccer, and volleyball. Our middle child, Andi, plays softball and soccer. The twins Bryce and Brena play soccer and t-ball. Bryce is looking forward to basketball but Brena just wants to cheer for him. My husband has coached Alix's softball team for the last few years. She likes it even though he is hard on her. I just happened to be in the right place at the right time when I met my husband because I do credit him for a lot of my successes. He has been my backbone and his determination has rubbed off on me. He will have his Bachelor Degree before he retires from the Marine Corps. He is only about 9 classes away. The words "I can't" are not in his vocabulary. He is more likely to say, "How hard could it be?" He is an amazing man even after all of these years.

School Story:

As a parent, I look back and thank God that my children have chosen a much better path than I did through my school years.
