Stevadores Posted Thursday, January 7, 2010 10:51 AM At the final Staff Meeting for Doug Rose the talk was all about his review by Bert Chalmers. One of the negative aspects was the fact that his male staff tended to dress down all the time and looked mostly like a bunch of Stevadores. Soooooo... of course a comprehensive group of us did what you might expect. Dressed up and put together a song for the occassion. I am probably safe now to say the ring leaders were Rick Kaulback and Tom Bates (I had nothing to do with it). Mr Chalmers and Mr Rose were very unhappy about the whole thing even though we got a standing ovation from the staff. On his way out of the meeing Bert said he would remember me for doing it and years later at Peter Swallwell's retirement when I walked up to Bert to say hello all he could say was "Stevadores". |

RE: Stevadores Posted Wednesday, January 20, 2010 10:20 PM I well remember the initial appearance of the Stevadores.I believe Mark Tonus was also included.I never realized until now it involved Doug Rose's evaluation. You guys were hysterical.A fond memory of the terrific spirit of CPSS's staff.Who remembers going to Farrington's after Meet The Teacher/Creature nights.... Thank goodness we didn't have RIDE back then!?! |

RE: Stevadores Posted Thursday, January 21, 2010 10:11 AM As always those were the days. I remember fondly being able to put some humour into some really stressful times. You guys were always the hit any time Stavadores was mentioned. The commoradory of the staff at that time was very good, with Friday afternoon TGIF's, spontaneous staff get togethers at local establishments and just great fun. Nobody seemed to want to leave Central unless for promotion, or to finally get nearer to home when an opening occurred. We weren't a staff to be messed with, that was for sure. |
