Our School

Brazil High School, like many other Indiana schools, was designed by the Terre Haute architectural firm of Johnson, Miller, and Miller.  It was built in 1916 and graduated its last class in 1984, when it was combined along with Staunton and Van Buren high schools into Northview High School.

This is a drawing of the entrance which faced State Road 59 North.  It was done by BHS alum Aaron Rugenstein, class of 1977, for the BHS Memorial that stands in the front yard of the new YMCA, which sits on the old BHS site.

Notable graduates from BHS were Orville Redenbacher (1924) the popcorn magnate, Charles B. Hall, the famous Tuskegee airman (1938), Ivan Fuqua the gold medal Olympian, and pop star Henry Lee Summer.
