Comments:

I attended WSU and graduated in 1979. I married Bruce Gierke in 1976 and we will be celebrating our 33rd wedding anniversary on Aug. 27th this year. I student taught for a few years in the Bremerton area, but was hired for full time work at PSNS in 1981. I worked full time until our first born arrived, went back 3 days a week and then quit to stay home and be a full time mom when she was 15 months old. After Tricia became 4, I went back to work in the shipyard until I got a full time job teaching. I've been teaching first and second grade ever since. I absolutely love teaching! Currently, I'm teaching at Peace Lutheran School in East Bremerton on Riddell Rd. It's a new school. Stop in for a visit! I'm there a lot! It's only a few years old, a wonderful facility, huge gym and goes from Preschool to 8th grade! My youngest, K.D., graduated from Peace and is currently a Senior, this year at Olympic High School. So, if you have any grandchildren, that need a great education, send them my way! I'll give you a tour of our facility! It's a great place for children to learn and grow, both spiritually and educationally. My oldest, Tricia, married Jeremy Werdall in 2007. They currently live in the Belfair, Tahuya area. She trains horses! Jeremy drives truck and is a mechanic for Shearer Trucking in Belfair. My husband, Bruce is currently working as an Assistant Facilities Manager in Code 900 at PSNS. He's been there since 1979! Neither one of us has any plans to retire soon. We love what we do! In 2003, we sold our house in Bremerton and moved out to Belfair on 15 acres with pastures and trees. We enjoy the quiet and peacefulness that we just couldn't find in town! We have three horses and can ride out our pasture gates onto Pope and Talbot land, over to Gold Mountain and Green Mountain! I think we could ride to the ocean if we had the time! It's wonderful! I still love music- all kinds! I write and coordinate most of the primary plays and music productions at school. I still play guitar, piano, and sing. In fact, one of the highlights of my life was singing on stage at the Admiral Theatre in 2007 with my singing partner, Blaine for the Sounds of the Seasons concert. It was a thrill! Blaine and his wife are great friends to Bruce and I. We spend a lot of time with our good friends. Quite often we'll all go out karaoke singing! It's great fun and a great way to blow off steam!
I am really wanting to find Janet Fuller, from our class, so we can catch up on each others lives. In 2003, right before we moved to Belfair, she called me and we talked for 2 hours, I think. But in the move I lost her phone number. If anyone knows where she works or how to get a hold of her, please let me know. We'll have some old times to talk about and several new things to share. I'd appreciate any help getting a hold of her! Thanks!

School Story:

My fondest memories of high school were the wonderful friendships that were made, the slumber parties, cruising town and yes, even the dating and boyfriend(s). Anyone seen Mike Gray? I've not seen him since those days. My most embarrassing memory was jumping over the bleachers onto the football field to cheer the West High Football Team as they entered the field to play. I ended up jumping into the big barrelled garbage can as I leaped over the railing! I landed in it and fell over in front of the whole school! Anyone remember that? I'm glad that was before these cell phone cameras or I might have been all over You Tube!
