
CHARLESTON, ME - James Michael Hamilton, 52, passed away April 9, 2005, peacefully at his home in the loving care of his family after a long courageous battle with "kansur". He was born Jan. 17, 1953, in Bangor, the son of Edmund H. and Margaret C. (Connors) Hamilton. He graduated from Brewer High School, Class of 1971. After serving his apprenticeship in the Bangor area he ran his own masonry business for more than 30 years, working jobs from Princeton to Presque Isle and Greenville to Bar Harbor. He has trained several new masons to add to the local talent including his own son, Joshua and his stepson, Shaun. In addition to being a hard working contractor he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially taking his grandson, Michael on fishing outings. He and his wife Donna spent many hours learning to dance and enjoying what they had learned. They were also anxiously awaiting the arrival of a new granddaughter, Ella Hamilton. Jim was a member of the Boy Scouts of America, achieving the Eagle Scout award and the God and Country award. He was also a member of the Better Business Bureau, the National Federation of Independent Business, and of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Dover-Foxcroft. He is survived by and will be greatly missed by his loving wife of four years, Donna Hamilton; his children, Joshua (Carolyn) Hamilton of Brewer, Belinda Hamilton of Portland, Terri (Jason Smith) Hamilton of Orono; his stepsons, David Thompson of Bangor, Shaun Thompson of Bradford; grandchildren, Michael Hamilton, Bree-ann and Jillian Smith all of Orono, Andrew Hamilton of Brewer; sister, Nancy (Phil) Griswold of Florissant, Colo.; brother, George Hamilton of Bangor; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his sister, Judy Johns; nephew, Mike Johns; and niece, Trisha Johns. A memorial Mass will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, April 16, at Thomas Aquinas Church with the Rev. James Robichaud, officiating. Arrangements by Memorial Alternatives, 1225 Broadway, Bangor.
