
BANGOR and BREWER Donald P. McGlauflin Jr., 52, passed away peacefully May 1, 2005, surrounded by friends and family at a local hospital, He fought a brief but brave battle with cancer. Donny was born Dec. 9, 1952, in Portland, the beloved son of Donald P. McGlauflin Sr. and Eleanor (Cross) McGlauflin. He grew up in Brewer and attended Brewer schools. He was a member of the Brewer High School, Class of 1971, where he was a standout athlete, participating in football, baseball, basketball and track. He received All-State Honors as quarterback as a member of the 1970 Brewer High School State Championship team. Also he received All-Tourney honors as a forward for the 1971 Brewer High School basketball team. Donny was a graduate of the University of Maine at Orono with a degree in physical education. He was an avid sports fan and participant in tennis, racquetball, and his passion golf. He was a member of the Bangor Municipal Golf Association. He was a successful business owner of the Super Coups franchise. He was a well-known salesman working over the years in numerous jobs here in Maine and across the country. Donny is survived by and will be greatly missed by his sister, Julie (McGlauflin) Levasseur of Brewer; step-mother, Catherine M. McGlauflin of Hampden; his step-sisters and their families, Margaret E. LeClair of Bangor, Mary E. Barteaux of Hampden, and Joanna M. Thyer of Bangor. He will be remembered by his goddaughter, Elaina Barteaux, with whom he shared a close and caring relationship; and his sister-in-law, Sandra Covington and family of Tuscon, Ariz. Donny will be especially missed and remembered by life long friends and numerous wonderful, loyal friends who supported him so much during his illness. He was predeceased by his mother, Eleanor, in 1978; his father in 1988; and his brother, Scott in 2005. Friends may call 5-8 p.m. Thursday, May 5, 2005, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday, May 7, at St. Matthew's Catholic Church, 70 Western Avenue, Hampden, with the Rev. Robert C. Vaillancourt pastor celebrant.
