WINTERPORT - Donald Leon Perkins, 53, passed away peacefully Aug. 28, 2006, at his home. He was born July 31, 1953, in Bangor, the son of Leon Walter Perkins and Charlotte (Ellis) Perkins. Donald lived most of his life in Winterport and was a graduate of Brewer High School, Class of 1971. He was a truck driver and had worked for many years for George Perkins, Lou Silver and most recently for Martin Carmichael. He is survived by his close friend, Brenda J. Baker of Winterport; a stepson, Philip J. Perkins of Winterport; stepdaughter, Melissa L. Shaw of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; two half brothers, Philip E. Perkins of Hampden and Clifford L. Perkins of Brewer; two half sisters, Arlene Hathaway of Winterport and Eleanor Zapata of Lowell, Mass.; four step grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. A memorial service will be held 7 p.m. Thursday at the Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Ave., Hampden.
