Brewer - Ernest W. Ayer, 74, of Brewer, passed away May 11, 2023, after a short illness, with his loving wife, Crystal, by his side. He was born on May 9, 1949 in Bangor, the son of Robert W. Ayer and Geneva F. (Morrison) Ayer.
Ernie was educated in Brewer area schools, he worked at W. H. Shurtleff in Brewer and Bangor Pipe in Bangor as a truck driver. He retired in 2018.
He was married to Crystal J. Ayer on July 26, 1980, in Bangor. He was a well known wheeler-dealer and a fierce "dickerer." He was known for his mischievous smile and quick wit.
He is survived by his wife, Crystal, of Brewer; his daughter, Cynthia Graves and her husband, Jonathan, of Standish, ME; his stepdaughter, Tracy Kerr and her husband, Michael, of Lakeville, ME; his stepson, John DeCesere and his wife, Allison, of Goffstown, NH; and his 5 grandchildren, Gabrielle Graves, Nicholas Kerr, Rachel Kerr-Cavanaugh, Bryn DeCesere and Weston DeCesere. He sadly passed before meeting his 2 great-grandchildren, who are on the way. He was predeceased by his father, mother; and 2 brothers, Robert and Kenneth Ayer.

A graveside service will be held at 1pm on Friday May 26, 2023 at Dean Hill Cemetery Orrington, ME.
