Brian Dore - Class Of 1969

Brian Dore

Brian Albert Dore “Papa” 73, passed unexpectedly on December 15, 2023. Brian was born on October 20th, 1950 to Pauline Farrar (nee Bowden) and Pat “Donald” Dore. Growing up in the 50’s as a middle child wasn’t easy, but Papa figured it out. He started out raking blueberries for 50¢ a day to buy school clothes at the end of the summer. He grew up and worked in a lumber yard, as a truck driver and at the Eastern Fine Paper Mill until their closure in 2003. He spent 11 years  as a custodian at the University of Maine in Orono until his retirement in 2016. And of course he couldn’t just sit still so he went back to work after he retired part time until COVID in March of 2020. Brian is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Bertha. They were always watching the hallmark channel, a sports game, the news; anything as long as they were together. Brian’s life mission the last 21 years was raising his little girl; his great-granddaughter Katelynn. He instilled love, values and cheering on the Red Sox in her. He was always down for some type of adventure as long as he was with Katelynn. Brian is also survived by brothers Michael Dore of Eddington, David Farrar and wife Julie of Bangor; Sister Kathy Branchely and husband Frank of Saco; Daughter Mindy Wood and husband Curtis of Levant, son Scott Dore and wife Kristy of Burlington, and Step-Daughter Jo-Ellen Cote and husband Matthew of Old Town. His family meant everything to him and he made sure to tell each and every one of us exactly how much every time he saw us. A simple fist bump or a “Hey kiddo” always put a smile on your face, but the best were Papa hugs. He gave the best damn hugs. Brian was an avid Red Sox and New York Giants fan and cheered them on through the wins and losses until his last days. His 12 grandkids and all 26 of his great-grandkids who he adored with his whole heart. Brian is predeceased by his mother, father and step-father; Sister Sandra, Sister-in-Law Cindy and step-daughters Kimberley and Pamela. A celebration of life will be held at the East Eddington Community Church at a later date where we invite family and friends to come and share stories, laughs and drink a couple brews; just how Papa wanted it. As Papa always said…take it one day at a time and go Red Sox
