Bangor - We sadly announce the death of Karen Sue Dyer (Yoder) on January 27, 2025, in Bangor, Maine. Karen was born to Florence (Young) and Charles Yoder on December 10, 1950.
Upon her father's retirement from the military in 1963, the family moved to her mother's hometown of Dedham, Maine. She graduated from Brewer High School in 1969.
On March 10, 1990, Karen wed the love of her life, Walter Dyer, and later built a home in Bradford, Maine.
Karen was a gifted crafter - making beautiful objects for loved ones and local fairs. Being allergic to cats did not keep her from a life-long affection for them. Exotic chickens later held her loving attention.
Known for her quick wit and no-nonsense attitude to life, she was a stable and much-loved presence in the lives of her family and friends.
Karen is lovingly remembered by devoted and lucky husband, Walter Dyer; beloved stepchildren, Jason Dyer (Cassie), Crystal Patasa (Tomy), and Marshal Dyer; precious grandchildren, Gage, Amos, Aida, Haze, and Nash; loving siblings and their spouses, Jerry Yoder (Jim Good), Charlie Yoder (Charlene Keogh), and Bob Yoder (Angel Cheung); cherished niece, Joanna Balogh and nephew, Nate Good; best friend, Claire Gagne; uncle, Buddy (Owen) Young; and dear cousins in Maine and North Carolina.
We want to thank the staff of Westgate Center in Bangor for lovingly caring for her during her stay there. We could not have asked for more.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to: Westgate Center for Rehabilitation and Alzheimer's Care, 750 Union St., Bangor, ME 04401. A celebration of Karen's life will be held this spring at a date and location to be announced.
