Brewer - James "Jimmy" Spox, 75, passed away peacefully, November 2, 2024, in Bangor. He was born July 11, 1949, in Brewer, Maine, to John and Emma Spox.
He graduated from Brewer High School, class of 1967, and University of Maine, class of 1971. He worked for the Bangor Daily News for 39 years. His life was dedicated to his career and taking care of his mother, Emma and his sister, Lanie. He enjoyed playing the slot machines at Hollywood Casino and in Las Vegas, shopping, cooking, gardening, antiquing, harness racing, and having memorable and meaningful conversations with family and friends.
Jimmy is survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins; including special nieces, Donna Hedrick of South Carolina, and Patti McElvain of Hermon, Maine; very special cousin, Judy Street of Brewer, Maine; and special friends, Barbara and Phil Joyce, Brewer, Maine, Karen Varney and Tom O'Neil, Arizona. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by one brother, John; and four sisters, Jeanine, Geneva, Janet and Lanie.
A celebration of life will take place in Maine next summer.
