James Byard - Class Of 1972

CANTON – James Edward Byard Jr., 30, husband of Susan (Sassi) Byard of R.F.D. 1, died unexpectedly Aug. 17, 1984, at Rumford Community Hospital.  He was born January 21, 1954, in Bangor, the son of James E. and Nancy (Brooks) Byard Sr.  A resident of this community for the last three years, he was employed as department head of the Inhalation Therapy Department at Rumford Community Hospital  Mr. Byard was a graduate of Brewer High School in the class of 1972 and Springfield Technical Institute, Springfield, Mass., where he earned an associates degree in inhalation therapy in 1976.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served as a hospital mate 3rd class.  He was a member of the American Registry of Respiratory Therapists.  Surviving besides his wife and daughter, Brenna Byard of Canton, are his parents of Brewer; a brother Jeffrey Byard and wife Tikie of Dedham; four sisters, Patricia Byard of Veazie, Elizabeth Byard of Brewer, Renae Byard of Orrington and Shirley Byard of Brewer.  Funeral services for Mr. Byard will be held 10 a.m. Monday at St. Athanasius St. John Church, with the Rev. Marcel Chouinard officiating.  Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery, Rumford. In lieu of flowers, should friends desire, donations may be made to the Downeast Chapter, National Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Box 1020, Waterville 04901 in memory of Mr. Byard.
