Helen Peppard (Dougherty) - Class Of 1972

EDDINGTON – Helen Peppard Dougherty died peacefully Jan. 3, 2010, surrounded by her family at home. She was born Nov. 16, 1953, in Bangor, the daughter of John “Bill” and Virginia “Ginny” (Hagar) Peppard. Helen was a graduate of Brewer High School, Class of 1972 and the University of Maine, Class of 1976, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English. Helen married Louis W. Dougherty, July 12, 1980. Helen had been an active member of Rainbow Girls, attaining the level of worthy advisor. She was also an active member of East Eddington Community Church, where she served as clerk; a member of East Eddington Historical Society and a member of the planning board for the town of Eddington. Helen was an excellent cook and an avid reader. She enjoyed working around the family homestead doing chores with her John Deere Gator. Surviving are her husband of 29 years, Louis of Eddington; one sister, Martha Peppard Smith and her husband, Guy, of Eddington; two brothers, Joshua T. Peppard and his wife, Tina, of Hampden, and David M. Peppard and his wife, Theresa, of Eddington; four nephews, Dylan, Isaiah, Jacob and Aaron; and two nieces, Hannah and Katie. Relatives and friends are invited to call 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 6, at East Eddington Community Church, Route 9, Eddington, where a funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 7, with the Rev. Roger Tracy, pastor, officiating. Spring interment will be at Pine Tree Cemetery, Eddington. Gifts in memory of Helen may be sent to East Eddington Community Church, Building Fund, P.O.
