Robert E. Kidder - Class Of 1951

Brewer - Robert E. Kidder, 88, died February 2, 2020. He was born November 11, 1931, in Brewer, Maine the son of Herbert S. and Madeleine C. (Dore) Kidder.
He was a 1951 Brewer High School graduate. He served in the U.S. Army at Aberdeen Proving Grounds, Maryland. He was employed as a fuel oil truck driver for Norman E. Whitney (then C.N. Brown) for 41 years. Upon his retirement in 1996, he and his beloved wife and favorite travel partner, Ruth, visited all 50 states. He then lovingly cared for Ruth for 18 years until her passing in 2018.
He was predeceased by his wife, Ruth Kidder. He is survived by sons, Donald Johnson-Kidder, of Ladera Ranch, CA; John and Karen Kidder; and granddaughters, Morgan Kidder of Boston, MA; and Abbey Kidder, of Bangor. He is also survived by brothers, Ronald and Judy Kidder, of Brewer; Richard and Mary Kidder, of Burnsville, NC; and James Kidder, of Honolulu, HI; as well as several cousins and their spouses.
He was a very smart, hard-working likeable man with a dry, witty sense of humor. He had many quirky, endearing phrases; such as asking his granddaughters if they wanted a glass of water "hot, cold, or luke"; and often told people who were full of themselves that they were "full of goose poop and rain water".
At his request, there will be no memorial service.
