Barbara Ella Copeland (Johnson) - Class Of 1938

Dedham - Barbara E. Johnson, 95, wife of the late Charles E. Johnson, died Oct. 21, 2015 at her home in Dedham. She was born March 8, 1920, at Copeland Hill in Holden, the daughter of Roswell E. and Alma (Houston) Copeland. She was predeceased by her brothers and sisters, Arthur Copeland, Guy Copeland, Melissa (Copeland) Ireland, Edith (Copeland) Seeley, Callie Copeland, John Alden Copeland, Dorothy (Copeland) Jellison, Cora (Copeland) Johnson, and David Copeland.

Barbie, known as "Boo Boo" to her immediate family, graduated from Brewer High School, Class of 1938 and married Charlie that same month. She moved to "the mountain" and lived there for 77 years. For those of us who grew up on "the mountain," we experienced Barbie's love and knew that with her we always had a place to call home. Words are inadequate in expressing how much care and love Barbie showed to so many. The family would like to thank the relatives and friends who took the time to come visit Barbie, send cards or write letters. She enjoyed looking at her family pictures each and every day. The family would also like to thank Hospice of Eastern Maine Medical Center for their care and support during Barbie's illness.

Private interment will be held at Union Cemetery, Dedham. If you would like to remember Barbie in a special way, give someone you love a hug, kiss them and tell them you love them. Barbie could not condone any mistreatment of animals by anyone. If you so desire, you may make a contribution in her memory to any of the area animal shelters or the ASPCA of your choice. Arrangements by Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 69 State St., Brewer.
