Orrington - Deane M. Norwood, 87, passed away on March 25, 2022, at a Bangor Hospital. He was born July 2, 1934, in Brewer, the son of Chester E. and Virginia M. (Nelson) Norwood.
Deane served his country in the United States Air Force. He worked for 37 years in the beverage business in the position of salesman. Deane retired from Maine Distributers in 1996. During retirement, he enjoyed working for Hertz Rental Cars for 23 years at the Bangor Airport. He was a longtime member of the East Orrington Congregational Church and the Bangor Elks.
Deane is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Loretta M. (Dyer) Norwood; daughters, Sandy Norwood of North Carolina, and Deanna Hunter and husband, George, of Casco; grandchildren, Jenni Franz, Casey Jett, Eric Nickerson, Jessica Nickerson, and William French; a sister, Phyllis Malone of Orrington; a brother, Nelson Norwood and companion, Dayle Snow, of Orrington; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A service of remembrance will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 30, 2022, at the Brewer Chapel of Brookings-Smith, 55 S. Main Street, Brewer, with the Rev. Carl Schreiber, officiating.
