Brewer and Bangor - Robert H. Fitts, 71, of Brewer, passed away June 30, 2013 after a brief illness. He was born Nov. 8, 1941, in Etna, son of Harold E. and Beryle (Savage) Fitts.

Bob was a dairy farmer in Brewer in his younger years and owned and operated a school bus, driving for the Brewer School Department. He retired from Brewer Middle School after 20 years of service. Bob loved people, especially kids, and was always ready and willing to go the extra mile to help anyone. He will be missed by many. Bob loved roller skating and four wheeling, and anyone who ever saw him skate knew he was one of the best. He loved woodworking and in recent years made beautiful walking sticks and crosses which he designed himself. Home and family meant everything to him. He was one of those lucky people who knew what was really important in life.

Bob is survived by the only girl he ever loved, his wife of 52 years, Sandra (Beckett) Fitts of Brewer; two loving daughters, Tracy Allen and her husband, Steve, of Brewer, Karen Fitts and her fiancé, Jim Nadeau, of Orrington; sisters, Janet Giljam of Florida, Carol Stewart and her husband, Ron, of Lyman; brother, Lucian and his wife, Debra, of Lyman; brother-in-law, John Beckett and his wife, Robin, of Orono; grandson, Jared Bell of Holden; granddaughter, Amber Blockler and her husband, Scott, of Glenburn; several nieces, nephews, cousins and great friends with whom he shared many good times. He was predeceased by his parents and his precious little boy, Michael.

The family invites relatives and friends for a time of remembrance to share conversation and refreshments 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, July 3, at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center St., Bangor. Interment will be private for the family with the Rev. Roland Nadeau officiating.
