Orland - (Elvira) Nancy Colpitts, (80), fell asleep in death November 13, 2021, in Orland, ME, surrounded by her family and the love of many friends.
Born August 9, 1941, in Bangor Maine to Cedric and Elvira Jones (Ring) of Eddington, Maine. Nancy, (don't call her Elvira), grew up in Ellsworth, as a small child then lived in Eddington, until graduating from Brewer High School in 1960.
She is survived by 2 siblings, Marie Brewer and John Jones; and 5 children, Linda Grigoriadis, Greg Bragan, Karen Philbrick, Darlene Hallett and Kenda Colpitts; 18 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 1 adopted grandson; and nieces and nephews.
When Nancy was younger she was well known in the shoe factories in Maine hand sewing shoes. Even sewing at home when her children were small. She had no car or sitter but her craftsmanship was so valued they would deliver shoes to her home and pick them up when she was done. When the last shoe factories were closing she went to Beal College where she earned a certificate for office skills. Whatever office she worked in valued her as a diligent hard worker.
Nancy was also very crafty. Knitting and crocheting everything from socks to dishcloths. Many of her friends cherish the baby sets she crocheted. During the Covid-19 pandemic she got busy sewing upwards of 100 masks before they became readily available. We all thank her for her generous spirit.
Nancy attended the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's witnesses. Her strong faith in God's Word the Bible motivated her to be active in the volunteer ministry for many years. She would share her hope for a better future with anyone that would listen, including Drs. and nurses. After courageously battling many major health issues since 2008, she succumbed to an aggressive lymphoma.
She told everyone, "I just want to go in peace because I know my god Jehovah will call and I will answer, and I WILL be back." (Based on Job 14:14,15)
