Robert Arthur King - Class Of 1960

BREWER - Robert Arthur King, 66, passed away peacefully March 27, 2009, at a Bangor health care facility. He was born Nov. 4, 1942, in Bangor, to Henry Jr. and Esther King. Robert attended St. Theresa's grammar school, Brewer High School, and was a graduate of Higgins Classical Institute and the University of Maine, Orono. He served in the Naval Reserve and then in the Navy aboard the Fred T. Berry and the USS Rooks. Growing up Bob enjoyed boy scouting and spending his summers at scout camp. Bob served as an altar boy for many years. He was very musical, even having his own music group, the "Rhythm Teens," who produced a record. Bob played the clarinet and sang. Bob's love of life was the theatre. He performed in Penobscot Community Theater, Dinner Theater, as well as performing in several Shakespeare plays. He enjoyed playing bridge and chess. Robert will be remembered as a loving son, father, brother and friend to all. Robert is survived by his mother, Esther Deschene and stepfather, Roland; two daughters, Rebecca King and Rachel King; a special grandson, Korey King; one brother, Henry F. King III of Texas; several aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends, too numerous to mention. He was predeceased by his father, Henry F. King Jr. Family and friends may visit 5-7 p.m. Monday, March 30, at Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Ave. Hampden. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 31, at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 70 Western Ave., Hampden. Interment will be at Lakeview Cemetery later in the spring.
