
Harold James Whitney, 81, passed away Feb. 4, 2023. He was born Dec. 22, 1941, the son of Robert Whitney and Martha (Webster) Whitney.
Harold, who preferred to be called "Jim" was a proud Veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy from June 16, 1960 to Dec. 31, 1981. His service consisted of RTC June 1960 – August 1960, SD GRU September 1960 – February 1961, ASW School February 1961 – August 1961, USS IREX December 1961 – December 1963, USS Andrew Jackson May 1965 – May 1970, FLT Sonar School July 1970 – June 1974, USS Kamehameha June 1974 – August 1976, USS Skipjack August 1976 – December 1978, NUSC New London Laboratory January 1979 – December 1981, retiring as a Sonar Technician Submarines Senior Chief.
He is survived by his wife Lynne Mae (Teixeira) Whitney, who was truly loved and cherished by her husband; brother, Robert Whitney Jr.; and sisters, Cynthia Hanson and Connie Tourtillotte. He loved and was loved by all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
