HOLDEN and SEARSPORT - Marian Inez Carter, 71, died Dec. 8, 2014, at her home in Searsport. She was born Jan. 18, 1943, in Bangor, daughter of Otis A. and Mary Elizabeth (Tuck) Carter.
Marian grew up on the family farm in Holden and attended the one-room school house in Holden. She was a graduate of Brewer High School, class of 1962, and enjoyed attending her class reunions. She was a member of the Holden Congregational Church, where she taught Sunday school and the Holden Grange. Marian enjoyed taking long walks, visiting with friends at Miller's General Store.
Surviving are one brother, Elmer E. Carter of Holden; two nieces, Annette Marie Plaumann and her husband, Doug, of Holden and Anita Ann Madden and her fiance, Glen J. Carter, of Dedham; two nephews, Andrew E. Carter and his girlfriend, Vicki L. Churchill, of Dedham and John E. Clukey and his wife, Tricia, of Bangor; several great-nieces and great-nephews; a special cousin and longtime friend, Donna Hall, of Holden; also friend, Charlie Adams. Marian was predeceased by her parents; and a sister-in-law, Bonita "Bonnie" Carter. The family would like to thank the caregivers and staff of the Bayview Manor, Searsport, for their care and support of Marian.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, December 12, 2014, at the Brewer Chapel of Brookings-Smith, 55 South Main Street, Brewer, with Linette George, pastor of the Holden Congregational Church, officiating. Friends may call from 1 p.m. until time of service Friday. Spring interment will be in the family lot at Harts Corner Cemetery, Holden.
