Linda Colby - Class Of 1962

Linda CrowleyLARGO - Linda Rae Colby Crowley, 69, passed away Aug. 15, 2013, daughter of Linwood and Gladys (Ivers) Colby of Brewer, Linda was a 1962 graduate of Brewer High School. In 1963 she married the late Al Crowley of Dedham.

Linda worked as a manager in retail for many years. Then settled into healthcare, where she retired from the Bangor Mental Health Institute. Most of her years at BMHI were spent as a recreational aide. Linda's outgoing personality was a good fit for working with the mentally ill. Everyone loved Linda; her fun, quick wit was nice to be around.

Linda would say her greatest joy and accomplishment was getting her private pilots license in 1990 and flying her Cessna 150, which she fondly nicknamed "Katie." Millers field in Newburgh and the EAA flying club was her home away from home for many years. She enjoyed fly-ins and flew her plane as far away as Oshkosh, Wis., and Lakeland, Fla.

Linda is survived by her childhood friend and love, Neddy Sprague; brother, Richard and spouse, Delight, of Largo, Fla.; daughter, Tammy and spouse, Skip Williams, of Bedford, N.H.; daughter, Michelle Collins and fiancé, Ray Roy, of Woolwich; grandchildren, Jacinda and Matt Williams, Chelsea and Cassandra Collins, and Kaylee and spouse, Andrew Treadwell; and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many old and dear friends. The family is forever grateful she had "her Neddy" who loved and cared for her until her last day.

Linda's ashes will be flown and scattered over Crowleys Island in Corea at noon on Sept. 22, weather permitting, by Gary Soucy...for one last airplane ride in Katie. Those who wish to join the informal gathering are welcome to meet on Crowley Island Road at the beach to say goodbye.
