Stetson - Harry "Bub" Curry died on February 17, 2025. He was born in Bangor on July 13, 1943, to Harry and Maxine MacDonald Curry.
After his father return from World War II the family moved to Deer Isle, and later Levant. Bub attended schools in Levant, Hermon, Bangor and graduated from Brewer High School in 1962, and was a member of the Brewer High School football team. After high school graduation, Bub joined the Maine Air National Guard, where he proudly served for 20 years and retired with the rank of Staff Sgt. He worked many local jobs eventually being employed with Cianbro Corp. for 32 years until his retirement. Bub was a sports fan his entire life, playing football, baseball, softball, and his great love, golf. He coached little league baseball in Levant for many years. In 1971, he married the love of his life, Peggy Charters Merrill, and they made their home in Stetson.
Bub was predeceased by his parents; brother, Dale and wife, Edie; brothers-in-law, Nick Nickerson and Thayne Charters; sister-in-law, Shelley Rowell; and his in-laws, Barney and Carmen Charters. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Peggy; their three sons, Kevin and Traci Merrill, Kevin and Teresa Curry, and Jason and Michelle Curry; his sister, Linda Nickerson; his brothers-in-law, Trevor Charters and Kirk and Annie Charters; and sister-in-law, Tammy Hodgdon. He is also survived by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Ben and Kallie Merrill, Josie, Quinn, and Josh Merrill, Tara Curry, Sidney and Wyatt Campbell, Rowan, Casey, and Logan Cutright, and Riley, Cameron, and Rachel Boyles; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
There will be a celebration of life on Saturday, March 15, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center St., Bangor. Condolences to the family may be expressed at BrookingsSmith.com.
