
BOWDOINHAM and BREWER - John Michael "Mike" Haskell, 66, died Dec. 30, 2010, near Lethem, Guyana, South America. He was born Nov. 15, 1944, in Bangor, son of Lawrence and Helen (Bell) Haskell. Mike was a 1963 graduate of Brewer High School, where he enjoyed playing football. Mike was a surveyor and past president of Maine Society of Land Surveyors. Mike was also a mariner and an entrepreneur. Mike encouraged his children to participate in athletics. His interest in sports led to countless hours devoted to coaching his children and other children in the Topsham Youth Soccer Program. An avid supporter of Mount Ararat High School athletics, Mike could be seen at any number of events supporting the Eagles or scorekeeping a game. In addition to his mother of Hermon, he is survived by his sons, Andrew of Gardiner, Matthew of Topsham and John of Portland; the mother of his children, Carol (Brown) Haskell of Bowdoinham; sister, Ginny Wilson of Hermon; brother, Kenneth of Henrietta, N.Y.; sister, Catherine of West Burke, Vt.; brother, Lawrence of Springfield, Ill.; an uncle, aunts, and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
