Eddington - Ray Stanley Wood Sr., 77, died unexpectedly on October 16, 2021. He was born August 15, 1944, in Eddington, Maine. He was the youngest son of Frederick and Carolyn (Bragg) Wood.
Ray graduated from Brewer High School, class of 1963. He married his high school sweetheart, Judy Ann MacLeod, in 1964. They celebrated 57 years of marriage in May. He called her his "Queen of the Hill" and kept his tradition of giving her one rose for each year of marriage. He was a godly example of a loving husband and father.
Ray worked as a lineman for the Bangor Hydro for 33 years, where he was very active in the union. After retirement, he started his own business, Wood Associates, as a developer and builder. He built many well-known buildings in the cities of Bangor and Brewer. Ray and Judy enjoyed traveling, finally settling and spending 6 months a year on the West Coast of Florida, in their beautiful home where the palm trees sway. Ray loved being outside; hunting, fishing, working on hunting camp and he was currently building his own saw mill. There was nothing he could not do. Ray spent every summer at Beech Hill Pond where his family built one of the first camps on the pond. Ray was loved and respected by every soul who ever met him. Ray was a conservative patriot and loved sharing his views...#TrumpWon. He was the kindest, wisest, most humble father and Papa. His shoes will never be filled, and he will be missed forever on this side of eternity.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, Judy Wood, are his four children, Stephanie Seccareccia and her husband, Bob, of Eddington, Ray S. Wood Jr. and his wife, Marcia, of Eddington, Darrick Wood and his partner, Kristen Hirsch, of Bangor and Jessica McCluskey and her husband, David, of Eddington. In addition to his children Ray was so proud of his grandchildren, Robert, Stephen, Joey and Michael Seccareccia, Trey and Sarah Wood, Quinn and Daryn Wood and Jacob and Isaac McCluskey. He was also a great-grandfather to Jaxson and Murphy.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 30, 2021, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Family Reception Center, 163 Center St., Bangor, immediately following the service.
