Gary Crocker - Class Of 1964 VIEW PROFILE

DIXMONT – Gary Samuel Crocker, 61, passed away July 30, 2007, as the result of an automobile accident. He was born Jan. 25, 1946, in Portland, the son of Samuel D. and Aldine (Bunker) Crocker. Gary was a graduate of Brewer High School, Class of 1964, and held an associate’s degree in culinary arts from Southern Maine Community College, formerly S.M.V.T.I., in South Portland. Gary was a chef by trade, and was employed by Cleveland Tankers, and most recently by Eastern Maine Community College. His real love and enjoyment came from running his 100-acre farm in Dixmont, which included managing his tree farm. He for the past several years had a neat farm stand on the side of Western Avenue in Dixmont, called Crocker’s Crop’s which was run on the honor system. Gary was well known for his pig roasts and for his generosity, he was always helping people out. He loved the outdoors and was an all around sportsman, enjoying hunting and fishing. Gary was a member of Archon Masonic Lodge No. 75 AF & AM of Dixmont, Corner Stone Lodge No. 218 AF & AM of Portland, Maine Consistory 32 Degree Mason, Anah Shrine of Bangor, where he was a former member of the Clown Unit, member of the Drum and Bugle Corp and aide to the Potentate. He will be remembered as a kind and gentle man who loved children and being with his family and friends. Gary is survived by his beloved companion, Lynne Dumont of Dixmont; his parents, Samuel and Aldine of Brewer; a brother, Greg B. Crocker and his wife, Adair, of New Boston, N.H.; two nieces, Hilary Dombroski and Sarah Crocker; several great-nieces and great-nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Gary was predeceased by Lynne’s daughter, Alysha, who was like a daughter to him. Visiting hours will be held 5-8 p.m. Thursday at Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Ave., Hampden. A graveside service will be held 10 a.m. Friday at Lakeview Cemetery, Western Avenue, Hampden, conducted by Pastor Chuck Langbein, pastor of the Dixmont United Methodist Church, in conjunction with the officers and members of Archon Masonic Lodge No. 75 of Dixmont. In keeping with Gary’s love for children and agriculture, his family would appreciate memorial gifts be made to the Dixmont Scholarship Association, 372 Moosehead Trail, Dixmont, ME 04932, for a student entering the field of agriculture.
